STARTING THE SCHOOL YEAR STRONG
Tips for staying strong this school year.
BACK PACK DROP:
Be sure you have a drop off zone established for your students for when they get home. If they know where to put their backpack and shoes before moving onto snacks it'll help keep your space organized.
SNACKS!
Having good (and healthy) snacks prepared (or in a snack cupboard or drawer) can save last minute unhealthy grabs that lead to sugar crashes. My kids loved finding the newest additions to the snack bin. Ask your student’s for some suggestions so you can stock up!
DISTRACTIONS:
Keeping distractions at a minimum while working on any homework assignments will not only help it get done sooner, but also lend itself to a more engaged work. Set aside the phone, Netflix, all social media etc... and knock it out!
GO OLD SCHOOL - get a planner!
Our most successful students effectively use a paper planner! It's better than using their phone, or hoping they remember assignments and projects. It may not be the "in" way to track all the things.... but it is very effective and reduces stress!
Our most requested area of support is ORGANIZATIONAL COACHING! This is where we come alongside and support new ways of tracking, filing, sorting, planning and follow through with your student. It’s a WIN WIN as we take some of that tension out of your relationship and assist them with new methods and effective management tips they can master.
REST
Keeping a consistent routine around bedtime helps students shift gears toward sleep. Pick a time to start turning down some lights, shutting down activities and starting the bed time routines are very helpful. A rested brain is a more successful brain!
